Yesterday was a big moment in our battle for equal pay. At 1 p.m. around 150 UNOG staff members came together to mark the two-year anniversary of the imposition of the illegal pay cut and call on UN management to get moving now on rectifying this appalling situation.

As you can see from the photos of our protest, it was a fantastic turnout, with large numbers of staff attending. We sent a powerful message about the way we’ve been treated by our employer. Staff are clear. We’ve had enough of the UN’s dither and delay. We’ve had enough of seeing them adopt worthy resolutions that establish International Equal Pay day, whilst at the same time failing to deliver for their own staff. We’ve had enough of hearing their warm words that never to translate into action.

We were pleasantly surprised to see Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of UNOG at the event. She demonstrated her solidarity with staff and underscored her attachment to the principle of equal pay.

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us. You did a brilliant job and made it clear that people are very angry and remain resolute in our determination to keep on fighting. You can see how we’ve communicated the details of the protest to the press in the attached media release.

La journée d’hier fut un moment clé dans notre combat pour l’égalité salariale. À 13 heures, quelque 150 membres du personnel de l’ONUG se sont réunis pour marquer le deuxième anniversaire de l’imposition de la réduction illégale des salaires et pour demander à l’Administration de l’ONU de s’atteler dès maintenant à la rectification de cette situation épouvantable.

Comme vous pouvez le voir sur ces photos  <insérer un lien vers les photos ou fournir des copies dans le courriel>, un grand nombre de fonctionnaires étaient présents.  Nous avons montré clairement notre ressenti par rapport à la manière avec laquelle notre employeur nous traite. Nous avons été agréablement surpris de voir la Directrice générale de l’ONUG, Madame Tatiana Valovaya s’afficher à ce rassemblement. Elle a indiqué sa solidarité avec le personnel et réitéré son attachement au principe de l’égalité salariale.
