In a letter sent today, Public Services International (PSI), called on Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to oppose planned pay cuts of up to 10 percent for UN frontline staff, many working in the world’s most dangerous locations.

In the letter, PSI President, Rosa Pavanelli, stated that “cuts are unacceptable as working conditions on the frontlines continue to worsen. At the time of writing, 319 UN staff and contractors have been killed in service, 325 have been injured and 164 have been kidnapped since 2000.”

PSI is a global union federation representing 20 million public sector workers in 160 countries.
