Speak Up! Meeting to decide on a creche – Monday 3 September at 2.30 p.m.
August 29, 2012

We are pleased to share with you a business plan for an 88-child crèche at the UN (full document in French, brief in English). The plan was prepared for the Council by a local consulting firm and is itself based on earlier study that the Council undertook at the start of this year.

Using costs and best practice from 20 creches in the region, we believe this plan provides a realistic scenario for a creche at the Palais.

Given the reports conclusions on costs and fees, we wish to discuss it with you and will be organizing a townhall on Monday 3 September at 2.30 p.m. in Room 12 (3rd floor of the old building). The outcome of this discussion and the volume of interest will determine whether the Council goes ahead with this project.

Many of you have noted that the Council has been talking about a creche for the last 10 years. This is the first time a business plan has been done and Monday’s meeting will be make or break on whether a creche is built within a year.

So we urge you to attend. Given the meeting’s importance on this issue, English and French interpretation has been requested.
